The Atlantic Ocean Road

Strømsholmen is located directly on the Atlantic Ocean Road, one of the world’s most spectacular coastal drives. In fierce competition with internationally renowned routes such as Northern Ireland’s Antrim Coast Road, Australia’s Gibb River Road, and the Himalayan stretch between Manali and Leh, the Atlantic Road has earned a top spot – named Norway’s “Construction of the Century” in 2005.

This nearly 9-kilometer-long road jumps from island to island across eight elegantly designed bridges, linking small coastal communities between the towns of Kristiansund and Molde. The most famous of these is the Storseisundet Bridge, known for its bold, artistic curve – a feat of engineering that has become a global icon.

As The Guardian once noted, in stormy weather the Atlantic Road is fantastically dramatic, while in calmer conditions it offers the chance to spot whales, seals, seabirds, and endless horizon views. It is an unforgettable drive in any season.

Thanks to its breathtaking natural scenery and distinctive design, the Atlantic Ocean Road has become a sought-after location for the international film and advertising industry.

It has featured in:

"James Bond: No Time to Die" (2021), with high-speed action scenes filmed along the bridges

"Succession" (Season 4, 2023), showcasing the raw coastal beauty of Norway in one of the show's most iconic episodes

Car commercials for brands like Alfa Romeo, Porsche, and Mercedes-Benz, using the dramatic curves and ocean backdrops to highlight style, speed, and precision
